Joan M. Holloway

YORK- Joan Mabel (Wirfel) Holloway, 85, of Manchester Township, passed away Monday, August 2, 2021 at Hospice and Community Care in Mt. Joy. She was the wife of the late Warren Richard Holloway. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on September 18, 2021 at Spry Church, 50 School Rd. in York, with a visitation from 10-11 a.m. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting with the service. Private burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Holloway was born in Queens, NY on September 3, 1935, the daughter of the late Edward and Kathryn (Fort) Wirfel. Mrs. Holloway was a longtime member of Spry Church in York. She served on many church committees, including Trustees, Pastor Parish Relations, Cemetery Committee, Finance Committee, and Serving the Servants. A talented crocheter, she enjoyed sharing her gift with the church, family and local organizations. Mrs. Holloway leaves a daughter, Karen Forsythe of York; a son, Scott Holloway and his wife Diana of Hendersonville, NC; and three granddaughters, Amanda Forsythe, Erin Forsythe and Christi Poland. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy (Schulten) Moehringer and Lucille Sawyer.
