Joan (Dickinson) Bennett

YORK Joan (Dickinson) Bennett, 73, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at York Hospital. She was the loving wife of John E. Bennett to whom she was married 54 years on July 21, 2010. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Bennett was born in West Mickley, England on March 31, 1937, a daughter of the late George William and Violet Jane (Johnson) Dickinson. She was nurse trainee student in England and worked in accounting at various locations. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bennett is survived by one son, Stephen John Bennett and wife, Jennifer Lynne of York; one daughter, Karen J. Ocamb and husband, Joseph D. of Hershey; four grandchildren, Christopher S. and Geoffrey N. Bennett both of York, and Ian J. and Sean B. Ocamb both of Hershey; one brother, George Dickinson of England; one sister Gwendoline Tulip and husband Brian of Spain; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica M. Ocamb and a sister, Georgina Pollock.
