Joan D. (Katkowski) Miskiel

FORTY FORT-Joan D. (Katkowski) Miskiel, 63, of Forty-Fort, died Saturday evening, October 6, 2007 at her home. Born in Pittston on August 19, 1944, she was the daughter of Louise (Maciolek) Katkowski Gromala of Dallas, and the late Albert Katkowski. She attended Old Forge High School and was currently employed at the JC Penny Catalog Center. In addition to her father, Joan was preceded in death by her step-father, John Gromala, and sister, Mary Polkowski. Joan was devoted to her family and she will be greatly missed by her daughter Cheryl Howatch, Forty-Fort; her grandchildren Kelli, Matthew and Nicholas, and great grandson, Skyler. Also surviving are her brothers, Joseph Katkowski, Gouldsboro, Robert Katkowski, Forty-Fort; and sister, Margaret Watson, Endicott, NY, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 9:00 AM, Wednesday from Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 at Catholic Community of North Wilkes-Barre, Sacred Heart/St. Johns Parrish, 601 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. Monsignor John Sempa will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home.
