Joan A. (Stoner) Shearer

YORK – Joan A. (Stoner) Shearer, 78, died Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Ray S. Shearer, Jr. A graveside ceremony will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, 99 York Road, Jacobus, with the Reverend Richard B. Starr officiating. Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements. Joan was born February 27, 1933 in Harrisburg. She was a daughter of the late Norman Z. and Irene M. Stoner. She worked as an office manager at various businesses until her retirement. Joan loved animals, especially her pets. She enjoyed making delicious candy and fudge for family and friends, as well as sewing and crafting. Joan was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Joan is survived by two sons, Scott N. Shearer and wife Conni of Red Lion, and Randy L. Shearer and wife Jennifer of East Berlin; two daughters, Roxann J. Shearer of York and Jami R. Godfrey and husband Robert of Seven Valleys; 6 grandchildren, Chad, Jeremy, Kyle, Zachary, Jenna, and Dylan; 4 great-grandchildren, Hudson, Lakelynn, Kearsea, and Carter; and one sister, Norma Marchio of York.
