Jerry W. Guizar

SOUTH RENOVO - Jerry W. Guizar, age 69, died at Jersey Shore Manor Care on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011. He was born in Lamar on October 1, 1941, a son of the late Paul and Annabelle (Wetzel) Guizar. He was a graduate of Renovo High School, was the manager of the Hometown Distributing Co. in Renovo, and also worked at Berwick Forge, Chem-Con, A.C.I., and Northern Fabricating over the years. Jerry was a member of the Elk’s Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagle’s, and the American Legion. He loved family time especially with his grandchildren, was an avid Steeler’s fan, an accomplished woodworker, and loved Golden Retriever’s. On August 24, 1959, he married the former Esther A. Wertz in Renovo. They celebrated 52 years together last August. Surviving is his wife: Esther, daughter: Bobbi (David) Guizar of Woolrich, sons: Jerry Guizar Jr. of Montrose, Pa., Jon (Leah) Guizar of Bellefonte, and David (Karen) Guizar of Renovo and grandchildren: Chris, Justina, Eden, Caden, and Vivian. Also surviving are brothers: Paul (Janet) Guizar of Hyner, Ron Guizar of Georgia, Rev. Richard (Mary) Guizar of Virginia, Neil Guizar of Arkansas, sister: Audrey Miller of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother: Dennis. Funeral services will be held at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011 with Pastor Dee Calhoun officiating. Private family interment will take place in Rest Haven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
