EMIGSVILLE - Jerry L. Rentzel, 67, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. He was the husband of Geraldine C. [Krylowicz] Rentzel to whom he was married for 47 years on September 16, 2007. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. A visitation will be held from 3-4:00 PM Saturday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private. Born November 27, 1939 in the North York area of York, he was the son of late George W. and Lucy I. [Hoke] Rentzel. Mr. Rentzel retired from Preston Trucking in 1997 after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of 13th Ward Democratic Club; Starview Sportsman's Club; West Manchester Fish and Game; and the South End Democratic Club. Mr. Rentzel served as manager of the Manchester Indians baseball team that plays in the Central League from 1984 to 1990. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and Pappy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the cabin he built in Potter County. He especially enjoyed supporting his grandchildren at their sporting events and other activities. He was absolutely their biggest fan. In addition to his wife, Mr. Rentzel is survived by two daughters, Deborah K. and husband Randy McCurdy of York and Michele F. Tynan of State College, PA; two sons, Michael L. and wife Nicole Rentzel of York and Eric J.W. Rentzel of Dover; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Lindsay, and Michael Schumacher; Meghan McCurdy; Levi and Wyatt Rentzel; and Aubrey Rentzel; a former daughter in law, Amy Rentzel; two brothers, George R. Rentzel and Jeffrey L. and wife Teresa Rentzel both of York; two sisters, Judy R. Rohrbaugh and Lisa K. Rentzel both of York; and a nephew, Richard and wife Melissa Rohrbaugh of York. He also leaves his beloved German Shorthair, Heidi. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy A. Rentzel.
