Jenkin Jones, Jr.

POTTSVILLE - Jenkin Jones Jr., 88, of Pottsville passed away Monday evening at the ManorCare Health Services, Pottsville. Born in Coaldale on February 9, 1923, he was a son of the late Jenkin and Elizabeth Jones. He was a graduate of Coaldale High School. Jenkin served his country in the US Navy as a Motor Machinst Mate, 3rd Class. On April 21, 1945 he married the former Kathryn Mae Heffelfinger Jones, who survives. He was formerly employed by: the Home Life Insurance Company as a field manager and agent, and K. Sam Miller Motors, as a salesman. Following his retirement he became an avid woodworker and handyman. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, where he served on the church consistory. He was a member of the Lansford Masons #677 and the Lehigh Consistory. Jenkin was also a member of the Disabled American Vets. Surviving, in addition to his wife Kathryn of 66 years, are: a son Robert J and his wife Michele Jones, of Lansdowne; two granddaughters, Kelly L. Jones and Lindley M. Jones, both of New York City; a sister Gwen Jones, of Myrtle Beach, SC; two brothers-in-law, Ben Heffelfinger, of Conyngham, and Bill Heffelfinger, of Nesquehoning; a sister-in-law, Mabel Heffelfinger, of Conyngham; nieces and nephews. Jenkin was preceded in death by: a daughter, Janice L. Schaltenbrand; four brothers and seven sisters. Funeral services will be private, held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown. Contributions can be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, Pottsville.
