He embraced life and lived it to the fullest. His favorite quote was “Life is a great adventure, and the worst of all fears is the fear of living” – Theodore Roosevelt. He was as much at ease tossing back a beer at the Quehanna Motor Lodge as he was sipping a glass of wine on the porch of the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan. He had the innate ability to talk to anyone about anything. First and foremost he loved his family and friends. The relationships he formed over his 63 years were vastly important to him. Jeff and his wife Lisa were made for each other. They were absolutely inseparable and at times a comedy routine. The sun rose and set in his children, all of his best traits and characteristics are exemplified in them. And to the surprise of many, he absolutely cherished his dog Luna, who he affectionately referred to as “Nuggie”. Jeffrey was an avid reader. He loved the feel and smell of a hardback book in his hands and was the owner of many first editions inclusive of; Ernest Hemmingway, James Harrison, Cormac Mcarthy, Thomas McGuane, Peter Mathieson, John Irving, Annie Proulx, Paul Theroux, F. Scott & Zelda Fitzgerald, Crazy Horse, George Armstrong Custer, The Lakota Sioux, Native Americans, and the Battle of Gettysburg. Exercise was very important to him. Jeffrey started his love of sports and athleticism from a young age. He was varsity letter winner in track & field, football and wrestling. He maintained his level of fitness through running multiple 5K’s, 10K’s, half marathons, and was a Marine Corp. Marathon finisher! He was a diehard University of Michigan and New England Patriot fan until… he took his allegiance to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following his tremendous love for Tom Brady. His love of travel was unprecedented. His thirst for adventure was unquenched. There were never enough places to go, things to see, food to experience, beer to drink and memories to be made. Some of his biggest adventures were tracing the steps of Ernest Hemmingway. These places included; Africa, Bimini in the Bahamas, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Key West and Sun Valley Idaho just to name a few. He also explored the vast majority of the U.S. with his favorites being the Western and Northern states. Experiences in these places included sky diving, hiking and scuba diving of which almost all took place next to Lisa or his children Cooper and Hadley. His adventures also took him internationally to Canada, Mexico, Belize and France- where Jeff and Lisa celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Paris. He had a great passion for the arts. From visiting various art museums to supporting local artists. Music was also an essential part of his life. It was not unusual for Lisa to find Jeff sitting alone in a room with his iPad and headphones listening to all genres of music. Jeff had great respect and admiration for the outdoors, he was an avid hunter and fly fisherman. His hunting accomplishments included caribou in Quebec, Canada; plains game in Namibia, Africa; Mule deer in Preston, Idaho; and whitetail bucks across North America. His flyfishing adventures took him to mountains of Colorado in pursuit of Cutthroat trout and grayling; the warm oceans of Belize for bonefish and tarpon; the frigid waters of Erie for steelhead; and all over the northeast for trout. Jeff lived his life to the fullest and inspired everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him to live each day as if it were to be their last. CLICK HERE TO SEND FLOWERS
