Jeffrey L. Daugherty

YORK - Jeffrey L. Daugherty, 56, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home. He was the husband of Sally K. Yingling. The couple wed on April 15, 2000. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2012 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 2523 Pine Grove Rd., York with Pastor Joel Coleman officiating. A visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born on December 3, 1955, Jeffrey was a son of the late Edward W. and Beulah R. (Sharp) Daugherty. He worked as an Electronics Technician for Verizon. Mr. Daugherty retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Naval Reserves after 10 years of active duty and 10 years of reserves. He was a member of the Blue Crew on the USS Henry M. Jackson SSBN 730. Jeffrey also coached a softball team while in the Navy. He enjoyed bowling, miniature golf, music and playing the guitar. Along with his wife, Sally, Mr. Daugherty is survived by a son, Sean A. Daugherty and his wife, Julie Turcic of Greenville, S.C.; a daughter, Brooke M. Daugherty and her companion, Paul Young of Mohawk, NY; a grandson, Alexandru Daugherty; a sister in law, Donna Daugherty of Red Lion; five nieces; three nephews; six great nieces; three great nephews; and two great great nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy “Doc” Daugherty and Francis “Butch” Daugherty; and a sister, Louise Yingling.
