RED LION – Jeffrey Eric Fix, 58, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Red Lion on May 21, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Bella (Estes) Fix for over 37 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Rev. Dr. Charles W. Salisbury, Superintendent York District of the Susquehanna Conference UMC officiating. Visitations will be held from 7-9:00 PM Wednesday and 2-3:00 PM Thursday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Red Lion Cemetery. Jeff was born January 22, 1957 the son of the late Dale and Jean (Scott) Fix. He leaves behind his daughter, Ashley Fix; his son, William Fix and fiancée, Michaela Martin; and grandson, William Fix, Jr.; in addition he was dearly loved by cousins, Eric and Stephanie Hockensmith and their daughters Abby and Emma; cousins, Gail and Weldon Ropp, Bonnie and Tom Workinger, Sandy and Ron Leiphart, Kay and Tom Gemmill; and many dear friends. Jeff will be missed by Bruiser and Lexie, his chocolate labs; Theenie the Weenie Dog; and Pussy Boy, his Maine Coon Cat. Max the parrot will sadly miss torturing Jeff. Friends will be checking their cell phones only to find an eerie silence. Jeff lived his life in his beloved town of Red Lion. He graduated from Red Lion Senior High School in 1974 and Shippensburg University in 1978, earning his BSBA. He started his business career in Human Resources with National Central Bank and moved on from there to work with ISC Technologies, BMY, Fulton Bank, and Dentsply. In 2002, after leaving Dentsply, Jeff bought and managed Home Helpers, a business dedicated to helping Seniors remain independently living in their home. Jeff loved Red Lion, he was an amazing historian of his town and was dedicated to making Red Lion the best place it could be through his service to the community. He served numerous terms on the Red Lion Borough Council and served as Council President. Jeff was elected to the Red Lion Area School District School Board in December 2007 and was the current School Board President. He was dedicated to serving the students of Red Lion, taking time to be at breakfasts with the students, award ceremonies, sporting events, music events, as well as being a visible leader throughout the Red Lion Schools. Jeff was also a member of the York County High School Board of Directors in which he served as Vice President. Jeff was the assistant tennis coach at Red Lion since 1983. He gave 32 years of support to the tennis program and young athletes in development of their tennis skills, as well as, character. He not only wanted his players to succeed in tennis but to succeed in life. Jeff unselfishly gave of his time not only in the tennis season but throughout the year with winter tennis and summer practice. Jeff was an avid tennis player and golfer. He was a member of the former Red Lion Country Club and York Fair Life Member. He loved to vacation at Myrtle Beach with his family and friends. Jeff was a loyal Raven’s fan and flaunted their Super Bowl wins. Jeff was also a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Jeff will be dearly missed by many. He touched countless numbers of people with his warm smile, loving heart, and unforgettable sense of humor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jeff Fix Tennis Scholarship Fund, c/o Red Lion Area School District, 696 Delta Rd., Red Lion, PA 17356.
