YORK - Jeannette P. (Proudfoot) Earhart Lewis, 96, of the Village at Sprenkle Drive, died Friday afternoon, August 8, 2008 at her home. She was the wife of Richard Earhart who died May 12, 1983 and James Lewis who died September 19, 1998. A memorial service celebrating Jeannette's life will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008 in the Carriage House of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York, 950 S. Duke St., York with the Rev. Robert F. Renjilian officiating. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, York is in charge of arrangements. Jeannette was born January 15, 1912, in East Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late James L. and Ada Ola (Ambrose) Proudfoot. She was a faithful member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York and along with her late husband, Richard she co-founded the Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Port Townsend, Washington. She was a loving homemaker who, because of relocation with her husband's career, found herself residing in Ohio, Washington State, Oregon and Pennsylvania and volunteered with various organizations in every community in which she lived. She was truly loved and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Jeannette is survived by her two daughters, Jola Shoff and husband, Bernell of Windsor and Sharon Earhart Smith and husband, Dale of Casa Grande, AZ; five grandchildren, Ian Shoff, Mellody Gotwalt, John Shoff, Krysten Biehn and Jonathan Cahall; seven great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and a dear friend, Jacque Meeker of York. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 2333 San Juan Ave., Port Townsend, WA 98368 or to ACCESS York, PO Box 743, York, PA 17403.
