Jeanne Will Nearing

TROY-Jeanne Will Nearing, 89, Troy, died peacefully and with dignity, Sunday, December 13, 2009 at home in the care of Guthrie Hospice, her daily caregivers, and her family. Born December 31, 1919 in Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of Sadie (Carrie) and George C. Will. When she was a young girl the family moved to Pine Plains, NY where she ultimately graduated from high school. She met her husband of 69 years, Robert Nearing, in Pine Plains at a school dance. On September 24, 1938 they began their life together at Willowbrook Farm in Clinton Corners, NY. In 1949 she moved with her family to West Franklin, PA and then to Troy, PA in 1964. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Jeanne worked as a dental assistant at Dr. Meeka's office in Blossburg, and then as a teacher's aide in the Troy school system, first at Granville Elementary School and later at W. R. Croman Elementary School, retiring in 1983. Jeanne will be remembered for her intelligence, her realistic approach to life, and her dry wit. She enjoyed reading, flower gardening, good art, browsing in Antique shops, writing in her daily journal, and the comfort of home. She attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Jeanne will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends. She is survived by daughters, Jill and husband Dr. Francis Daniel of Shenandoah Junction, WV, Patricia and husband Edward Van Dyne of Canandaigua, NY, son Robert S. Nearing and wife Kelly of Granville Summit, PA, son John Nearing and life partner MaryAnn Perrino of Barrington, NJ, 10 grandchildren: Dr. Elizabeth Daniel, Dr. Francis Daniel, III, Scott Daniel, Randall Whittaker, Kyle Whittaker, Donna Gasper, Jennifer Good, Robert Clint Nearing, Dr. Autumn Nearing, and Mary Ellen Nearing, 17 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by two nieces, Elka Scott Schumann and Elena Scott Whiteside. In addition to her parents, Jeanne was predeceased by her husband Robert on July 23, 2008. In keeping with her wishes that there be no funeral, a graveside service at a later date will be held at the convenience of the family. The Gerald W.
