Jeanne E. (Shirey) Tarman

YORK- Jeanne E. (Shirey) Tarman, 81, died Friday, May 8, 2009 at Manor Care South. She was the loving wife of Leonard Tarman. The couple celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on August 26th. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with The Rev. Jonathan L. Bausman officiating. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Greenmount Cemetery. Born on September 7, 1927 in Shrewsbury, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Myrtle (Waltimyer) Shirey. Mrs. Tarman worked as a secretary for the president of the York Corrugating Company for 48 years until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of Continental Squares, White Rose Squares, the Cotillion Club of York, Goodwill Dancers, Flirts & Skirts, Dance a Rounds, and Colonial Rounds. She and her husband enjoyed dancing, bowling, roller skating, and playing tennis together. Along with her husband, Jeanne is survived by a sister, Laretta Valet and her husband Paul of Red Lion; a brother-in-law, Donald Tarman of York; two nephews, Robert Tarman of Mechanicsburg and Thomas Tarman of Red Lion; and a niece, Donna Caldwell of York.
