Jean R. Neuman

YORK- Jean (Ross) Neuman, 85, passed on to heaven on April 28, 2017. Jean is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Edward Neuman; her three children Edward Neuman, Jr. and wife, Kathleen, Elizabeth Snyder and David Neuman; five grandchildren, Christina (Neuman) Wood and husband, Jeff, Patricia (Neuman) Aungst and husband, Brad, Andrew Neuman and fiancé, Chelsea White, Jarrod Snyder and wife, Korie and Micah Snyder and wife, Nicole. Her great grandchildren were the delight of her heart: Natalie, Caleb, Greta, Autumn, Aubrianna, Kenzi, Moriah, Isaiah, Noah and newborn, Hunter. Jean will forever live in the hearts of her loved ones. Her life is celebrated with joyful memories and a legacy of love. Jean was the daughter of the late C. Harry and Margie (Livingston) Ross. She is survived by a brother, William Ross and wife, Robin; three sisters Janet Smith, Rev. Dr. Julia Strope and Janie Downton and husband, Hedley; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Rev. Richard Ross. Jean often laughed that she was married twice to Edward Neuman. They were married on October 6, 1954 while Edward served in the US Army in Bamberg, Germany, first by the local burgermeister (mayor) and then by the US Army Chaplain. Jean considered that time a 10 month honeymoon as they traveled thru many European countries. Jean was a 1949 graduate of William Penn High School and a graduate of Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. She worked in her early years at the VNA. Most of her married life, Jean worked in the family business, York Ice Co., Inc. She enjoyed working with her husband, sons, daughter and grandchildren. She considered the employees her family as well. A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the Church of the Open Door, 8 Carlisle Ct., York, PA 17408. A visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service. Jean was a charter member of this faith based church where she worshiped the Lord Jesus Christ. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Open Door, 8 Carlisle Ct., York, PA 17408. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to her dear caregiver, Nancy and to the caring staff of Country Meadows, Trolley Rd., York.
