YORK—Heaven hit the jackpot Tuesday June 21, 2022, when Jean (Schrum) Shenk left our earthly side to play the slots in the sky with her husband and love of her life Earle Shenk whom she married June 8, 1963. Born March 13, 1940, in York, PA, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Jeanette (Bahn) Schrum. She grew up in York city and was once named the city’s May Day Queen. Jean was a 1958 graduate of William Penn Senior High School, where she was the head majorette of the York High marching band. Shortly after graduation, she worked as a clerk typist at the York Hoover Casket Company, and later as a dental assistant at Tri-Hill Family Dentistry. She enjoyed travel with her late husband, especially their trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas and spending summers at their home in Bethany Beach, Delaware. She enjoyed Ravens football, Washington Capitals hockey, Broadway musicals, gardening and playing the slots. Most of all, Jean cherished her family, and was the most patient and loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family and her beloved dogs. Jean is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Shenk) Cahill and her husband Jeff, of York, PA; her son Todd Shenk and his wife Gail of Hephzibah, Georgia; her grandchildren Alexa (Cahill) Wagaman and Grant Cahill of York, PA; Jason Shenk of San Diego, CA, and Rhiannon (Shenk) Krixer of Beaufort, SC; four great grandchildren; and her beloved dog Benny. A private family ceremony was held on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc in Red Lion. In lieu of flowers the family requests the sharing of random acts of kindness in her honor. She was loved beyond words and is deeply missed. WE LOVE YOU MIMI, MOMMA! CLICK HERE TO SEND FLOWERS
