Dallastown—Jean Marie (Kleiderlein) Griffith Ake, 59, wife of James E. Ake, lost her courageous battle with cancer, Friday, November 9, 2007. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with the Rev. Marcy Nicholas officiating. Viewings will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, and from 9 to 10 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Jean was born in Baltimore on March 14, 1948, to the late Dorothy (Twele) and George J. Kleiderlein. Jean was a 1966 graduate of Eastern High School and held various secretarial positions in that area before moving to York County in 1970's. Jean was a secretary to the assistant principal at Dallastown Area High School. She also worked at Cablec Cable Company and Nationwide Insurance. After her retirement, Jean worked part-time at Target Stores. Dividing her retirement years between her York Township home and Bonita Springs, Florida, Jean was active in the Adamsville United Methodist Church, the Bonita Shores Club and various volunteer services. Jean had an interest in various hobbies and travel, but her first love was her extended family and grandchildren. In addition to her husband of seven years, a son Mark Griffith and his wife Tara of Radford, VA, survive Jean. Also surviving are two stepchildren, Dr. Jami Ake of St. Louis and Benn Ake of New York City, three grandchildren, Carly and Conner Griffith and Sam Kastor. Jean is also survived by three brothers, J. Joseph Kleiderlein and wife Patricia of Baltimore, George B. Kleiderlein and wife Pat of Kingsville, Maryland, Richard C. Kleiderlein and wife Joyce of Bel-Air, Maryland, three sisters, Dorothy M. Jacob and husband Richard of Pittsburgh, Isabelle M. Allanach and her husband William of Topsail, NC, Ann Butcher and her husband, Jon of Equine Meadows, Red Lion and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Jean in death were sisters, Joan Hartman, Mary Schaub and brother, Bernard Kleiderlein. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to York Cancer Center, Apple Hill Medical Center, 25 Monument Rd, York, Pa 17403 or Adamsville United Methodist Church, 81 N. Main St., Yoe, Pa 17313.
