Jean M. Kern Williams

YORK—Jean M. (Lewis) Kern Williams, 92, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Normandie Ridge. She was the wife of the late Philip E. Kern Sr., and the late Henry H. Williams. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10AM, Tuesday May 31, 2022 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York. Officiating the service will be her pastor, the Rev. Liz Polanzke. A viewing will be held from 9-10AM, Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Greenmount Cemetery. Born February 19, 1930 in York, she was a daughter of the late Charles Lewis and the late Gertrude H. (Gemmill) Lewis. She was a dedicated and loving homemaker for her family and for several years worked as a switchboard operator at Memorial Hospital. A member of St. James Lutheran Church in York, she was also a 1948 graduate of William Penn Senior High and member of the Golden Nuggets. Mrs. Williams is survived by a son, Philip E. Kern Jr., and his wife, Linda; a daughter, Vicki J. Besore and her husband, John; five grandchildren, Philip E. Kern III, Rebecca L. McClellan, John W. Besore III, Dustin E. Besore and Gabriel A. Besore; four great grandchildren, Nathan T. Kern, Elizabeth A. Kern, Dustin E. Besore, Jr. and Bennett W. Besore and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles W. Lewis and sister, Virginia M. Workinger. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 25 N.
