NORTHUMBERLAND - Jean I. (Denius) Emsweller, 89, died on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Nottingham Village, Northumberland. Jean was born on November 3, 1919 in Milton, PA, and was the daughter of the late Chester and Anna (Walter) Denius. She was a graduate of Milton High School, Class of 1937. On February 18, 1939 she had married Samuel A. Emsweller and celebrated 69 years of marriage. Jean worked for Champ Hats in Sunbury and went on to take care of classified advertising for the Sunbury Daily Item. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Northumberland, was an avid gardener and bird watcher. Jean's true passion was music, she enjoyed playing the piano, singing and dancing. Jean is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law; Bonnie L. and Cecil Hornbeck of San Diego, CA, Beverly A. Smith of Sunbury and B. Holly and Paul Prichard of Sunbury, three grandchildren; Shane F. and Ryan M. Smith, both of Sunbury and Jeffrey Hornbeck of San Diego, CA and five great grandchildren, sister Esther Fleming of Milton, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband Samuel who died on September 10, 2008, and her brother Bill Denius. The memorial service to honor Jean's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., Milton, PA with Pastor Wayne Muckel of the Shamokin Dam Alliance Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Harmony Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Jean's memory to the Pennsylvania SPCA Danville, 2801 Bloom Road Danville, PA 17821.
