Jean Hughes

Wellsburg, NY - Jean Hughes, Age 83, formerly of Snell Road, Elmira, NY passed away Monday, January 25, 2010 at Elcor Health Services. She was born October 9, 1926 in Sayre, PA daughter of the late Jessie and Elsie (Vesty) Snell. Jean was a self employed dairy farmer for many years and later worked at Central Recycling. She loved all animals, especially horses. Her other interests included gardening, growing flowers, playing the piano and organ. Jean was also an avid hunter. She was a past member of the Chemung, North Chemung and Lowman United Methodist Churches. Survivors include her son and his fianc矂enjamin Hughes and Kelly Olschewske of Elmira, NY grandchildren, Andrew (Samantha) Hughes of Jamestown, NY and Eric Hughes of Horseheads, NY, great-grandchildren, Anthony, Lilly and Jamie, a niece Barbara Grace of Elmira, NY and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. Jean was predeceased by her parents, three brothers and one sister. Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 7 PM Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main St. Wellsburg, NY. Jean's funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials are directed to the Southern Tier Hospice, 185 E. Corning Rd, Corning, NY 14830.
