Jean H. (Hoffman) Watkins

LOCK HAVEN - Jean H. (Hoffman) Watkins, 75, of Youngdale Road, passed away Friday evening, January 17, 2014 at Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville. She was born December 23, 1938 in Lock Haven a daughter of the late Joseph and June (Holmes) Hoffman. She was married on April 5, 1958 to Richard A. “Andy” Watkins who died March 9, 1999. Jean worked as a secretary for Piper and retired from Hammermill after several years. She was very proud that she donated numerous gallons of blood over the years. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, animals, cooking, growing plants and flowers. Surviving are one daughter Celia (J. David) Bower of Montoursville and 2 step-grandchildren Joshua and Seth also 4 step-great-grandchildren Kristen, Brittney, Jarron and Savanah. Two brothers Lee Hoffman of Overton, TX and Larry Hoffman of Lock Haven also a sister Shirley Watkins of Lock Haven. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Jean was also preceded in death by her companion of 10 years, Frank Swinehart who passed away in 2011 . His son Frank Jr. survives. She is also survived by 5 brother-in-laws Harry (Judy),Thomas (Gloria) , James (Sandy), Charles (Sherrell), and Edward (Lois) also a sister-in-law Marie (John) Shoemaker. Two brothers Leroy and Jerry and also a sister Beverly Hoffman preceded Jean in death. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with the Rev. Roger Yoder officiating. Friends and relatives will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
