RED LION- Jean E. (Turnbull) Burke, 77 died Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Lancaster General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Luther W. Burke. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Mrs. Burke was born December 2, 1931 in Frackville, PA, a daughter of the late James and Grace E. (Erdman) Turnbull. Prior to retirement, she worked for various banks throughout the York and Red Lion area as a banker. She was a member of Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ, and St. John's United Church of Christ in Red Lion, where she was recently honored for being a member of the church for 53 years. Mrs. Burke was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt; and took pleasure in spending time with her great grandson Griffin. She enjoyed spelunking, watching sports on TV, and traveling. Mrs. Burke is survived by a daughter, Melodie L. Shumaker and husband Terry of Elizabethtown; two grandsons, Nathan A. Shumaker and wife Lauri of Elizabethtown, and Andrew N. Shumaker and wife Megan of Manheim; a great grandson, Griffin M. Shumaker; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Robert Turnbull. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Johns United Church of Christ, 161 N. Main Street, Red Lion, PA 17356 or Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church, 996 East High Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
