Jean E. (Lovett) Franks

YORK - Jean E. (Lovett) Franks, 83, passed away November 8, 2008 at her residence. She was the wife of the late William F. Franks, Jr. and the late Malcolm R. Shaffer. Funeral service and burial will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery in the spring. Additional information about the time and date will be announced closer to that service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born March 20, 1925 in York a daughter of the late Henry L. and Elizabeth (Plitt) Lovett, she had worked as a secretary for the former Southern PA Bank and Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist, and had owned and operated Rustic Kennels. Mrs. Franks enjoyed raising and showing award winning Irish Setters. She was a member and former President of Lower Susquehanna Irish Setter Club and was a member of Eastern Irish Setter Assoc. She also was a member of St. David's Evangelical Congregational Church, where she served as a secretary for eight years; Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; and White Rose Bridge Club. Mrs. Franks is survived by two sons, M. Richard Shaffer, II of Dover and Gary F. and wife Patti Shaffer of York; a stepdaughter, Collette M. and husband Jay Bollinger of Dover; three grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a brother, Donald W. Lovett of Conestoga, PA; and a sister, Barbara Sheble of Philadelphia. Memorial contributions may be made to St. David's E.C. Church, 2411 Oakland Rd., Dover, PA 17315.
