Jean A. Langenhop

YORK – Jean A. (Wort) Langenhop, 86, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Normandie Ridge. She was the wife of Charles A. Langenhop with whom she celebrated 67 years of marriage on April 7, 2023.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 6, 2023 in the Chapel at Country Meadows of York – South, 2760 Pine Grove Road, York with Rev. Tim Wagner and Rev. Dennis Hummel officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10-11:00 AM Saturday at Country Meadows. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.

Born April 27, 1937 in Astoria, NY; a daughter of the late Arthur C. and Henrietta C. (Lankow) Wort. She was a graduate of Long Island City High School, Long Island, NY and of the Licensed Practical Nursing Program at York Vo-Tech. Mrs. Langenhop worked for York Hospital as a psychiatric nurse and then in the medical records department. Along with her husband and daughter she was the co-owner of Village Bakery & Ice Cream Shop in Tollgate Village, York. Jean was a member of Yorkshire United Methodist Church, as well as, The Chapel at Country Meadows. Throughout her retirement she and her husband enjoyed singing in the Longstown Village Chorus and traveling extensively throughout the US and internationally.

Mrs. Langenhop is survived by a daughter, Audrey P. Langenhop of York; a son, Charles A. “Chuck” and wife Denise Langenhop of Plano, TX; two grandsons, Spencer C. Langenhop of Minneapolis, MN and Trevor D. Langenhop of Dallas, TX. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ray C. Wort.
