DALLASTOWN - Jay L. Spyker, 67, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 26, 2007 at Manor Care - South after a three-year courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Sylvia A. [Pifer] Spyker to whom he was married for 41 years on April 16, 2007. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 1, 2007 at Shenberger's Chapel U.M. Church, located on Chapel Church Road, New Bridgeville, off Rt. 425; with his pastor, the Rev. Tim Allen officiating. A viewing will be held from 7-9:00 PM Wednesday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion and from 10-11:00 AM Thursday at the Church. Burial will be in Shenberger's Chapel U.M. Church Cemetery. Born March 10, 1940 in Laurel, York County, a son of the late James A. and Ruth E. [Workinger] Spyker, he was a 1958 graduate of Red Lion High School. Mr. Spyker retired in 2004 from Green's Dairy after 45 years of service and was active with their Quarter Century Club. He was a member of Glenview Alliance Church, Glen Rock where he served as a deacon. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and taking care of his yard. Mr. Spyker was also a veteran of the US Army Reserves. In addition to his wife, Mr. Spyker is survived by a son, Sheldon V. and wife Florence Spyker of Braintree, Mass.; four grandchildren, Evan and Ryan Spyker, and Courtney and Amanda Begnoche; a sister, Joanna Grim of York; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Glenview Alliance Church, c/o Benevolent Fund, 10037 Old Susquehanna Trail - South, Glen Rock, PA 17327.
