Janis (Karadeema) Gerner

ETTERS- Janis (Karadeema) Gerner, 64, died on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at York Hospital after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Red Land Valley Brethren in Christ Church, 3555 Lewisberry Rd., York Haven. Viewings will be from 3-5 p.m. on Friday and 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, both at the church. Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, 305 W. Front St., Lewisberry, is in charge of arrangements. Janis Gerner lived a life full of creativity and art. She developed impressive skills in sewing, ceramic, painting, floral design, knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed teaching these skills to others and became certified to do so. Whether spending time with family, friends or strangers, Janis was the life of any gathering. She could make anyone laugh and genuinely cared about people, frequently donating her time to various charities. Janis is survived by her mother, Virginia Rose Sayers; husband, William Gerner; daughters, Virginia Weygandt, Tara Ziegmont and Amanda Gerner; grandchildren, Devin McElhattan and Grace and Allison Ziegmont; brothers, Mark and Tom Fair; and a sister, Dona Kelley.
