Janet S. (Sabo) Girmen

WILKES-BARRE-Janet S. (Sabo) Girmen, 56, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Wilkes-Barre on April 21, 1957, she was a daughter of the late Helen Pomicter McElligott. She was a 1975 graduate of Hanover Area High School and later graduated from Luzerne County Community College. She was employed as a Certified Respiratory Therapist Technician at the former Nesbitt Hospital and then the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Janet was a hard working fun loving person who loved her family and friends and enjoyed camping. She was devoted to her pets, Max and Kitty. She is survived by her husband, Fred Girmen who she married in 1991 after 10 years together; a son, Richard Stefanovich and his wife Jana, Wilkes-Barre; step daughter, Jamie Girmen,granddaughter, Tanya; sisters Dorothy Freeman, Fort Mill, SC; Diane Briggs and her husband Tom, Glen Lyon; Mary Jane McElligott, Wilkes-Barre; 2 nephews and 3 nieces. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
