Janet R. (Smith) French

COLUMBIA- Janet R. (Smith) French, 91, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Columbia. She was the wife of the late John O. French to whom she was married for over 40 years. A Graveside Tribute Service will be held Monday, May 5, 2014 at 11 AM at Craley Cemetery, Lower Windsor Township. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements. Born July 1, 1922 in Lower Windsor, Janet was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Verna (Kiser) Smith. Mrs. French worked in manufacturing at Maple Press and Windsor Sewing Factory. Janet enjoyed gardening and flowers and loved her dogs. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Mrs. French is survived by a niece, Carol Courts of Hellam; four nephews, William Mittel of Hellam, Joe Mittel of York, Shane Mittel of Hellam and Brett Mittel of Hellam, and a sister-in-law, Mary Mittel. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her great nephew, Michael Myers and her brother, Lloyd Mittel.
