Janet L. Mills Kann

YORK-Janet L. (Ort) Mills Kann, 81 passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Celebration Villa of York. She was the wife of the late Kenneth E. Kann and the late Lawrence L. Mills. 

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a viewing from 10-11 a.m. The Reverend Mark Williams will be officiating at the service. Mrs. Kann was born in Newberry Township on October 10, 1943, the daughter of the late Clarence Raymond and Pauline Marie (Toomey) Ort. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse, who worked at Memorial Hospital and Colonial Manor in York. 

Mrs. Kann was a long-time member of the former Otterbein United Methodist Church in Dover and attended Mt Washington United Brethren Church in York. She was a 1961 graduate of Northeastern High School. She was a member of the Dover Farm Workers Association. She loved “Makin Memories” with her grandchildren; taking them on trips to Disney, Niagara Falls, cousin sleepovers and going camping. 

Mrs. Kann leaves three daughters, Angela Heidlebaugh and her husband Dana of York, Melissa Warner and her husband Brian of Broad Top, and Jennifer Hildebrand and her husband David of Red Lion; two sons, Theron Mills and his wife Penny of Dover and Christopher Mills of York; three step sons, Rick Kann and his wife Ellen, Steve Kann, and Scott Kann and his wife Amanda; 19 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, John Ort; a sister, Sarah Ann Linthurst; and an infant grandson William Hildebrand.
