Janet M. Thomas

YORK- Janet M. (Whyte) Thomas, 85, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late James E. Thomas. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a visitation from 1-2 p.m. Mrs. Thomas was born in Pawtucket, RI on May 19, 1931, the daughter of the late Thomas and Janet (Wadsworth) Whyte. She worked for McCrory’s Distribution and was the owner and operator of KT Square Dance Shop. Mrs. Thomas was a graduate of Pawtucket West High School. She was a member of Caterpillar Retirees Club and former president and member of White Rose Square Dance Club. Mrs. Thomas leaves two sons, James K. Thomas of Dover and David W. Thomas of York; a daughter, Colleen D. Thomas of York; two grandchildren, Rose M. and Jonathan E. Thomas; a great grandson, Jayden S. Ort; a sister, Marilyn Ann Pearson and her husband John of Seekonk, Mass; a niece, Kathryn Whyte Botelho; a nephew, Jeffrey S. Pearson, and great nieces and nephews. On her husband’s side of the family she leaves brothers and sisters in law and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members, Sharon and Sarah Smith of York. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael W. Thomas. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, Parkinson’s disease Foundation, or American Cancer Society.
