Jane Judy Schafer

Jane J. Schafer, 87, formerly of Schuylkill Haven and a residence of Providence Place, Pottsville, died Wednesday morning at the Pottsville Hospital. Born in Lafayette, IN, on April 8,1919 the daughter of the late Clarence and Sylvis (Peterson) Norquest. She graduated from West Lebanon High School, West Lebanon, inn 1936. She received her degree in Business Administration from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN in 1940. Mrs Schafer was a member of the First United Methodist Church,Pottsville. She was a 40 year volunteer for the American Red Cross, and for 20-years volunteered for AARP and did Tax programs. She was a member of the Pottsville Garden Club, the Schuylkill Promenades. She was also an English tutor for new foreign students. Mrs. Schafer is preceded in death bat three brothers Richard, Lee, and Donald Norquest, and a sister Virginia N. Reed.Surviving is her husband of 65 years Earl J. Schafer, Pottsville; a daughter Judy S. Brehm, Ocean Springs, MS; a son Robert E. Schafer, Schuylkill Haven,PA;two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
