Jane E. (Pittenger) Sheldon

YORK- Jane E. (Pittenger) Sheldon, 94, died Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Manor Care Health Services North in York. She was the wife of the late Melvin P. Sheldon. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a visitation from 1:30-2 p.m. Her pastor, The Reverend David Danneberger will be officiating at the service. Burial will be private in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Sheldon was born in Hagerstown, MD on July 18, 1915, a daughter of the late Scott and Lillian V. (Whetstone) Pittenger. She was a member of Shiloh United Church of Christ. Mrs. Sheldon leaves a son, Terry Sheldon of York; a granddaughter, Wendy Sheldon and her husband, Adam Shayne and their two children, Justin Sheldon Shayne and Sophie Sheldon Shayne, of Vienna, VA; and three sisters, Josephine Houck and Virginia Ott, both of Hagerstown, MD and Polly Eckstine of Greencastle, PA. She was preceded in death by a brother Scott Pittenger.
