YORK – Jane D. (Ross) Cullen, 98, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Country Meadows of York – West. She was the wife of the late Francis J. Cullen. Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church Cemetery, Crownsville, MD. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born September 26, 1915 in Brooklyn, NY a daughter of the late John J. and Jenni Ross, she was a graduate of New York University. Prior to having children, Mrs. Cullen worked as a school teacher and later a dedicated stay at home mom. Jane was very involved with the American Field Service, an exchange student program, for a number of years while her children were in school. She was a former member at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Crownsville where she sang in the choir; the Johns Hopkins Club; and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Cullen is survived by a daughter, Jane E. and husband Bryan Marsteller of York, PA; five grandchildren, Jennifer Jacobs and husband Jason, Laura Harrison and husband Steven, Benjamin Harrison, Emily Cullen and Matthew Cullen; five great grandchildren, Nicole Youngman, Samantha Harrison, Leah Harrison, Rosemary Jacobs and Ellis Jacobs; two step great grandchildren, Stephanie and Taylar Harrison; and a step great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Gavin Cullen who passed away at age 51. Memorial contributions may be made to York SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Tr., York, PA 17406 or to York Salvation Army, 50 E.
