SOLOMONS, MD- Jane Ann (Seifried) Tucker, 90, died on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at St. Mary’s Nursing Center in Maryland. She was the wife of the late John J. Tucker who died on October 7, 2003.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Bethany Church, 121 W. Broadway, Red Lion with Pastor Larry Parlett officiating. A visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Private burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
Born on April 5, 1933 in Windsor, she was the daughter of the late Kent B. and Almeda M. (Smeltzer) Seifried. Jane was the school nurse at Dallastown High School for 22 years until her retirement.
Mrs. Tucker was a member of Bethany Church in Red Lion and a member of Four Fold Friends Sunday School Class.
In 1980, she was co-founder of Access York, a shelter for domestic violence victims. She was a recipient of the 1992 National Toyota Woman of the Year Award, and received the Essence of Humanity Award in 2005. Also Jane was awarded the Eva Murillo Unsung Hero Award from the U.S. Congress on April 11, 2014, the 2015 York County J.C. Penney Golden Rule Award, and the 2020 YWCA Dorrie Leader Advocacy Award. Jane was also a member of the Red Lion Leo Club Hall of Fame.
Mrs. Tucker is survived by three sons, Edward Tucker and his wife, Elizabeth of Solomons, MD, Jeffrey Tucker and his wife, Penny of Saint Johns, FL and Mark Tucker and his wife, Loretta of Jupiter, FL; two daughters, Cherie Grider of Barrington, NJ and Constance Passaro of Williamstown, NJ; eight grandchildren, Matthew Tucker of Germantown, MD, Seth Tucker of York, Michael Tucker of Whitestown, IN, Mitchell Tucker of Panama City, FL, Morganne Tucker of Newville, Lauren Jenkins of Jupiter, FL, Cody Passaro of Philadelphia and Madison Binles of Easton; and four great grandchildren, Emmett Tucker, Hailey Tucker, Jack Tucker and Theodore Tucker.
