NEW FREEDOM - James William 'Jim' Stanley, 72, surrounded by his family, went to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Rhoda S. Stanley. The couple celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on January 2nd. A celebration of life tribute service will be 11 a.m. on Monday, January 16, 2012 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with his son, Pastor James W. Stanley officiating. Viewings will be 1-3 p.m. on Sunday and 10-11 a.m. on Monday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Baltimore. Mr. Stanley was born on March 22, 1939 in Baltimore, a son of the late Edward and Pauline (Hicks) Stanley. James was a self-employed Asphalt Contractor. Mr. Stanley was a member of Turnpike Baptist Church in Shrewsbury for 35 years and most recently a member of Place of Refuge Church in New Oxford. He was a beloved family man that loved his family, church and the Lord. He also enjoyed the outdoors and working with his hands. James enjoyed the simple life. Along with his wife Rhoda, Mr. Stanley is survived by a son and his wife; three daughters and their spouses; 17 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers; three sisters and many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the Four Diamonds Fund, Office of University Development & Alumni Relations, 600 Centerview Dr., P.O. Box 852, Hershey, PA 17033-0852.
