James W. Seyler

YORK- James W. Seyler, 90, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Country Meadows. He was the husband of the late Fairy R. (Hamme) Seyler. The couple had been married for over 62 years. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013 at Christ Lutheran Church, 29 S. George York, with the Reverend Stewart Hardy officiating. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Manchester Union Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born on March 13, 1923 in York, he was the son of the late James B. and Mabel (Bahn) Seyler. James was a tile setter for Banta Tile & Marble, Co. until his retirement. Mr. Seyler served our country for over a year in the U.S. Army during WWII. James was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Mr. Seyler was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows; Mt. Zion Lodge #74, Mt. Vernon Encampment #14 and York Canton #14 and a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers. James enjoyed wood carving, reading and storytelling Mr. Seyler is survived by two sons, Jerry L. Seyler and his wife, Mary E. of York and Steven M. Seyler and his wife, Susan McDonald of Annville; two grandchildren, Ryan L. Seyler and Gayle E. Scott; and one great granddaughter, Emily Scott. He was preceded in death by two sisters.
