POTTSVILLE - James S. Darosh, 84, of Pottsville, died Friday evening at the Schuylkill Center. Born in Connor’s Crossing on April 24, 1927, he as a son of the late John and Florence Januhewski Darosh. He attended Cressona Schools. James served his country in the Army during World War II, in the medical corp. On July 16, 1949 he married Bernadine M. Shamus Darosh who died Oct 5, 1982. He was a mechanic for 33 years at Earl Stoyer’s Car Dealership. In 1992 he retired from STS. He was a member of the St. Clair American Legion. He also was a member of the APA Polka Association of Schuylkill County and the St. Clair Old Timers Association. James was a member of St. Patrick’s, where he was an usher for many years. Surviving James are: two sons, James R. Darosh and his wife Katherine and David L. Darosh Sr., and his wife Christine M., Cressona; six grandchildren, David L. Darosh Jr., Gwen E. Rodgers, Kati A. Bechtel, Michelle M. Darosh, George Zerbe and Angela Darnell; four great grandchildren, Allison Janavage, Bryce Zerbe, Conrad Zerbe and Emillie Darnell; a brother, John Darosh, Cressona; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by: six brothers, Andrew, Edward, Joseph, Bernette, Adolph and Edwin; and a sister, Genevive Mellinger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM from the Church of St. Patrick. Family and friends may call from the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville on Thursday morning from 8:45-9:45. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. Memorial contributions can be made to either: St. Patrick’s Church Memorial Fund, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901 or the Alzeheimers Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
