James R. Price, Jr.

MURPHYSBORO, IL James R. Price, Jr. 59, formerly of Red Lion, died at 12:58 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007, while on a fly fishing vacation in Shippen Twp., Tioga County. He was the loving husband of Verna E. (Hedrick) Price with whom he celebrated a 23rd wedding anniversary on September 24, 2006. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with the Rev. Leon Denlinger officiating. Viewing will be 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial, with a eulogy prayer service, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Broad Top Cemetery, Broad Top, Huntingdon County. Mr. Price was born April 20, 1948, in Huntingdon. He was the son of the late James R., Sr. and Leona Mae (Park) Price. He was Vice President and General Manager of Operations for the Marion, Ill., plant of General Dynamics OTS, and was recently promoted to have the Scranton and Red Lion plants included under his responsibility. He was a graduate of Tussey Mountain High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree at Shippensburg University. Mr. Price also earned Masters Degrees from both Shippensburg and Mount St. Mary's College. He loved to fly fish and enjoyed golf and, in the past three years, he learned to ride horses, something he always wanted to do. His favorite pastime, however, was spending time with his wife, something he enjoyed doing more than anything else in the world. Mr. Price also leaves his two daughters, Dr. Shannon Elaine Price of Fairfax, Va., and Jessica Anne Price Reed and husband, James Anthony of Frederick, Md.; a granddaughter, Jordan Elizabeth Reed; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were his favorite when in his presence.
