TROY- James R. Luckey, 63, of East Troy, PA, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY, with his family by his side. The graveside service to honor Jim’s life will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the Bradford County Memorial Park in Luthers Mills, PA with Rev. Garry Zuber of the East Troy Baptist Church officiating. Military honors will be given by Troy Veterans Honor Guard. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements. Jim was born on September 4, 1948 in Canton, PA, son of the late Charles W. Luckey, Sr. and Marion E. (Mingos) Luckey of Troy, PA. He was a Troy High School graduate, class of 1967. Jim was a US Army veteran, serving his country in the Vietnam War where he received two Purple Heart medals for being wounded in action. After his tour of duty, Jim became a welder, working in shipyards and on hi-rise buildings. When he returned to Troy he helped on various farms in the area. Jim enjoyed shooting pool with his friends and spending time with his family. Jim is survived by sons Mark Gustina of Annapolis, MD and Darren Luckey of Oregon, his mother Marion, his brothers and sisters: Charles W. Luckey, Jr., Marianne & Randy Everts, Kathy Turner, all of Troy, PA and Louis & Dru Luckey of Marathon, NY, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jim was preceded in death by his father Charles William Luckey, Sr, who passed on Thursday, January 8, 2009. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please direct donations to the Good Samaritan Fund at the East Troy Baptist Church, PO Box 21, Troy, PA 16947.
