James P. 'Phil' Ropp

Red Lion—James P. “Phil” Ropp, 64, died Monday, July 11, 2011 at his residence in Chanceford Township. He was the husband of Yvonne L. (Biller) Ropp. The couple celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary November 5th. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements. Born October 1, 1946 in Red Lion, he was a son of the late James A. and Dortha R. (Keener) Ropp. He graduated from Red Lion Senior High School in 1964 and later graduated from New York Institute of Technology in 1968 where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree. A United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, he served from 1969-1971. He retired from the Red Lion Municipal Authority in February 2010 after 35 years of service as Superintendent. A 33 year member of the Dallastown American Legion – Post 605, he also enjoyed boating, camping and saltwater and deep sea fishing. In addition to his wife, Mr. Ropp is also survived by two sons, Justin P. Ropp and wife, Stacy of Red Lion and Scott C. Cosgrove and wife, Sharon of Dallastown, three grandchildren, Justy L. Leiphart, Dillon J. Ropp and Kamryn G. Ropp, two sisters, Hollyanne R. Minnick and Suzzanne A. Nonnemaker, both of Bethlehem and nieces and nephews.
