YORK - James P. "Jim" Dietz, 69, died Thursday, September 18, 2008 at York Hospital. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 AM Monday, September 22, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with his pastor, The Rev. Andrew C. Phillips officiating. A viewing will be held 10-11 AM Monday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Born June 26, 1939 in Conewago Twp., the son of the late Paul A. and Eleanor M. (Edie) Dietz, he graduated from Northeastern Senior High School in Manchester and continued his education at Penn State University earning a degree in Agriculture. Continuing his love for gardening, Jim began his own landscaping business, Dietz's Nursery in York. Mr. Dietz was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church. He was a life member and business manager of the Emigsville Band playing the clarinet for 53 years. Jim enjoyed spending his free time outside trimming shrubs and tending to his flowers. He was known for being an outgoing and friendly person and was often seen dining out and socializing. Mr. Dietz leaves two family members, Sallyanne Markey and Johnny Knight; close personal friends, Greg Hake and Kevin Troup; and the many others whose heart he has touched over the years.
