James P. Howard, Jr

Felton--James P. Howard, Jr., passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 in Chanceford Township. He was the husband of Melissa L. (Daugherty) Howard to whom he was married for 22 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11AM Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Spry United Methodist Church, 50 School Rd, York, Pa 17402. Officiating the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Loyer. Viewings will be held from 6-8PM Tuesday, May 30 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion and from 10-11AM, Wednesday at the church. Burial will be held in Bethel United Methodist Cemetery. Born June 4, 1968 in York, he was the son of James P. Howard, Sr., of Brogue and the late Sandra Y. (Heffner) Howard. He was a 1986 graduate of Red Lion High School. He owned James P. Howard Insurance in Brogue. A member of Spry United Methodist Church in York, where he would assist with parking cars every Sunday, he also enjoyed biking, hunting, farming and gardening. Above all, he loved the time he spent with his family and friends and especially the years he coached his son’s youth baseball & basketball tournament /Red Lion teams. James is also survived by his two sons, Luke J. and Samuel I. Howard of Felton; two sisters, Lori H. Baker of York and Amy H. Thompson of Pottstown; mother-in-law, Gloria M. Daugherty; sister-in-law, Denise C. Taylor and husband, Alan and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, David C. Daugherty.
