YORK – James O. “Tuffy” Steffee, 72, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 at Holy Spirit Hospital. Tuffy has spent the past 10 years with his significant other Thelma A. Deetz. Tuffy was born on December 20, 1949 in Hellam, a son of the late Ralph and Doris Steffee. Mr. Steffee was a welder by trade and enjoyed birdwatching, hunting, a bluegrass music. Along with his late wife, Jim participated in 18th Century reenactments where was a “Smithy.” More than anything, Tuffy loved riding his motorcycle for fun and in charity rides. He was a member of the CCSC and NDHP Motorcycle Clubs. Mr. Steffee was a US Army veteran of The Vietnam War. In addition to Thelma, Mr. Steffee is survived by two stepdaughters, Anie Heenan of New Jersey and Jennifer Weiman of Maryland; five stepgrandchildren, Hayden Heenan, Kailey Roller, Rose Madera, Zachery Strong and Alyssa Leonard; and two sisters, Diane and Beverly Hall.
