James M. 'Jim' Payne

York- James M. “Jim” Payne, 71, died Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the York Hospital. He was the husband of Frances A. (Jameson) Payne. The couple celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on September 7, 2012. A Celebration of Life Service will be 7 p.m. today at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1401 Mount Rose Avenue, in York, with a viewing from 6-7 p.m. at the church. The Reverend JP Bohanan will be officiating at the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., in York is in charge of arrangements. Jim was born in Niangua, Missouri on October 5, 1941, a son of the late James S. and Edith E. (Sheppard) Payne. He was a graduate of Missouri State University and went on to receive his MBA from the University of Illinois Champaign. He retired in 2009 from BAE Systems in York. Jim attended Bethany United Methodist Church in York and served in the United States Army. In addition to his wife, Jim leaves a sister, Vivian M. Calton of Lebanon, MO, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Payne was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma L. Taylor and Erma R. Motter.
