Dover—James M. Esterby, 76, died Monday, March 28, 2016 at Providence Place of Dover. He was the husband of Jane E. (Rassa) Esterby. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 24th. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 AM, Friday, April 1, 2016 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2121 Roosevelt Ave, York with his pastor, the Rev. Skip Nizinski officiating. Visitations will be held from 6-8 PM, Thursday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York and from 9-10 AM, Friday at the church. Burial will be private in Parkwood Cemetery-Baltimore. Born October 2, 1939 in Red Wing, MN, he was a son of the late H. Marion and Virginia E. (Anderson) Esterby. He was employed as a customer engineer with Unisys, formerly Sperry Univac for many years until his retirement in 2002. He served in the United States Army from 1961-1964 and was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in York. He was an adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America and an active member at his church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Esterby is also survived by one son, James D. Esterby and his wife, Katherine of Lititz; one daughter, Joy L. Shelton and her husband, Thomas of Dover; six grandchildren, Jesse, Nicole, Ryan, Grace, Sarah and Eric; one brother, David Esterby of Wisconsin and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 2121 Roosevelt Ave, York, Pa 17408.
