Red Lion—James L. Loucks, 78, died Sunday, June 8, 2008 at his residence in Windsor Township. He was the husband of Joan H. (Taylor) Loucks, to whom he was married for 32 years and the late Millicent K. (Zuch) Loucks. A celebration of life service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 12, 20008 at Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Mr. Loucks was born October 24, 1929 in York, a son of the late Luther R. and Estella M. (Diehl) Loucks. He graduated from William Penn Senior High School with the class of 1947. A United States Army veteran and Purple Heart Recipient of the Korean Conflict, he served with the 27th Inf. Reg., known as the "The WolfHound Pack". Past President (1998-1999) of the WolfHound Pack, he also served as editor and publisher, with assistance from his wife Joan, for the WolfHound Pack Newsletter. He was employed with Edgcomb Metals as Plant Superintendent until 1978. Later, he became the small business owner of Red Lion Industries and eventually worked with Formit Steel. Most recently, he worked part-time at Cape Horn Beverage. A life member of the Victory Athletic Assoc., Hawks Gunning Club, and the National Rifle Assoc., he was also a member of York Rifle Assoc., and Izaak Walton League. He was an avid hunter and precision bench rest shooter, loved woodworking and was a NASCAR fan. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by daughter, Cheryl Kay Burkins, son, Judson J. Loucks, both of Dallastown, daughter, Teresa A. Sloat and husband John of York and son Steven J. Loucks of Dallastown, one granddaughter, Virginia K. Smeltzer and husband Kevin of York, two great-granddaughters, Clea and Tylar Smeltzer, three sisters, Dorothy M. Langley, Eleanor M. Lauer and Marion C. Loucks and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, June Overmiller. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Arthritis Foundation of Central Pa, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 204, Harrisburg, Pa 17110.
