MT. WOLF - James L. "Shorty" Krishinger, of East Manchester Twp., died at 3:53 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was 58. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with the Rev. John M. Harman, pastor of Friendship Community Church, officiating. Burial with military honors by the York County Veterans Honor Guard will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel with additional visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday. Mr. Krishinger was born October 6, 1950, in York. He was the son of the late David L., Sr. and June A. (Donnan) Krishingner. He was a truck driver, retiring in 2003 after many years with both Yellow Freight and Mason Dixon trucking companies and was a member of Teamsters Local # 776. He attended West York High School and later completed his education while serving in the Marine Corps. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War stationed in Okinawa and earned the rank of Corporal while serving as a Tank Crewman. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with one star. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, the Shiloh American Legion Post #791 and the National Chapter of the Harley Owners Group. Mr. Krishinger leaves his daughter, Michelle L. Powley and husband, John, Jr. of Dover; two grandsons, Derrek and Dalton Powley; two brothers, Dr. Gene L. Krishingner of Hendersonville, NC and David L. Krishingner of York; and three sisters, Janet E. Mummert and Judith A. Shaffer, both of Dover and Nancy A. Leonard of York. He was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip A. Krishingner in 1970. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 140 Roosevelt Ave., Suite 208, York, PA 17401 or the American Lung Association, 3001 Old Gettysburg Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
