James K. Waltemyer

WINDSOR- James K. Waltemyer, 64, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017. He was the husband of Reba A. (Schroll) Waltemyer to whom he was married 43 years. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at Noon on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with his Pastor, The Reverend Gary L. Daugherty, of McKendree United Methodist Church, officiating. A visitation will be held from 10AM- Noon prior to the service. Born December 1, 1952 in Lewistown, James was a son of the late George Elmer and Miriam (Snyder) Waltemyer. He was a truck driver for over 40 years. He worked for Consolidated Freightways and also BL Grim Trucking and contracted for Fed-Ex. Jim received a safe driving award through Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association in 2005 as well as a Million Mile Safe Driving Award. He was also a member of the American Legion in Red Lion and the Teamsters Local 776. Jim enjoyed building model trucks when he was younger along with fishing and hunting. Jim had an extensive NASCAR collection, especially of his favorite driver Dale Earnhardt. He loved camping in the mountains with his grandkids, and spending time at home with his family when he was not on the road. In addition to his wife, Reba, Mr. Waltemyer is survived by a son, Terry Waltemyer and his wife Megan of York; a daughter, Stacy Strausbaugh and her husband Simmie of Red Lion; five grandchildren, Aliyah Strausbaugh, LaDainian Strausbaugh, Cameron Strausbaugh, Gavin Waltemyer, and Kendall Waltemyer; two brothers, Donald Waltemyer and his partner Karen Holliday of Windsor and Robert Waltemyer, Sr. of York; a sister, Diane Cifaldo and her husband John of Brogue, and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Waltemyer and Walter Fike, Sr.
