WINDSOR- James ‘Jim’ Moritz, age 75 of Windsor, became a heavenly angel on July 17, 2021, ending his suffering. He was the beloved husband of Cathy (Taylor) for 54 years. Born March 11, 1946 at York Hospital, he was the son of Luella Margaret (Riley) and Frank Alvin Moritz. After graduating from Eastern York High School in 1964, Jim was employed as an operating engineer for Hahn Contracting for 35 years then by McCarl’s until his retirement. He was a hard, dedicated worker and was a proud member of the IUOE Local 542 for over 50 years. Some of Jim’s memberships include Early American Steam Society, Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association, and the Ma and Pa Railroad in Muddy Creek Forks. He attended Mt Zion Baptist Church and read his Bible daily. Jim was very giving and donated to many local charities as well as families in need or those devastated by loss. Above all things, Jim loved his family and friends making new acquaintances everywhere he went on his excursions. He will always be remembered for his loyalty, helpfulness, advice, wisdom, and loving heart. Jim will forever be cherished by his wife, Cathy, and their 6 children: Jimmy (Denise), David (Trudi), Amy (Charlie) Rexroth, Andy (Kathy), Cathy Mae (Eric) Lakatosh, and Liz (Steve) Kehr; their 13 grandchildren: Katie, Corey, Tanner, Bryor, Levi, Shanya, Matthew, Luella, Jaz, Amelia, Izzy, Lucy, and Lillie; their 3 great-grandchildren: Abigail, Grayson, and Clayton; and his sisters: Isabelle Leib, Dolores Delp, Jeanne Herbst, Rosalie Hubler, and Linda Kottmyer. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Earl, John, Wayne, and Ray, as well as sister, Helen Miller. As Jim was so generous to those around him, many people came together to help provide the equipment he needed at home. Although too numerous to mention everyone, special thanks to Donnie Fake and the East Prospect Lions Club, Changing Hands, and Jack, Todd, and Troy Almoney. Viewings are scheduled at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel, 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion on Thursday, July 22 6-8pm and Friday, July 23 1-2pm with a service following. Burial will be private at the discretion of his family. Jim's service will be webcast live on his obituary @ HeffnerCare.com.
