James J. King, Sr.

YORK—James J. King Sr., 66, passed away Monday, August 21, 2023 at his residence in Springettsbury Township. He was the husband of Barbara K. (Codori) King to whom he was married for 45 years.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 3:00PM, Sunday August 27, 2023 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Officiating the service will be Certified Celebrant Allison R. Duke. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Born November 05, 1956 in Red Lion, he was the son of the late Walter J. and Esther M. (Sheetz) King.

He was employed as a barber for nearly 40 years and throughout his career he worked with Mt. Rose Barberama, About Hair and Stonybrook Barber Shop.

An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching the Raiders and Notre Dame. For several years he was very active in his son’s youth sports and coached many of their teams. He like taking rides on his Harley and was member of the Victory Athletic Association.

In addition to his wife, Mr. King is also survived by two sons, James J. King Jr., and his fiancée, Linzie Bylthe and Michael G. King; one sister, Catherine King; aunt, Betty Lighty and her husband, Lamar; cousins, Randy, Yvonne, Kevin and Deb and families; brother-in-law, Jack and his wife, Dana; sisters-in-law, Karen and her husband, Chris, Sue and her husband, Tim and Kathy and her husband, Mike and several nieces and nephews and their families.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Grane Hospice, 1010 Plymouth Rd, Suite D, York, Pa 17402.
