York—James H. Williams, 82, died Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Manor Care Health Services-Kingston Court. A celebration of life service will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, is in charge arrangements. Born January 3, 1927 in York, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Lida (Strausbaugh) Williams. Jim was employed by Naval Ordinance, AMF. Inc. and as the superintendent, of the toolroom at Harley Davidson until his retirement in 1994. A United States Navy veteran of World War II, he also retired and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy Reserve after 23 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the 13th Ward Political Club, Liberty Social Club, Shiloh American Legion and Viking Athletic Association. Mr. Williams is survived by, one son, James E. and his wife Joan A. Williams, of York, two grandchildren, Scott D. Williams of York and Aaron J. Williams of Langley AFB Virginia, three great-grandchildren, Kacey, Lindsey and Reagan Williams, two sisters, Mary Senft and Betty Bitzel, both of York and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman E. and Donald E., one sister, Romaine Barnhart and a 1/2 brother George Williams. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
